MARTA ADMIRAL

Dancer, choreographer, artistic director and cultural manager.

She trained as a dancer and choreographer in Barcelona, Paris and New York.

From 1981 to 2006 she created and directed the Roseland Dance School and, in 1987, she founded the dance company Roseland Musical, where she continues to create dance shows for children and young people.

 

As a reward for the artistic quality of her work, in 2007 she received the National Culture Prize, in the dance section, awarded by the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

From 2008 to 2017, as head of the Department of Festivals and Traditions of the Institute of Culture of Barcelona, she directed the most important cultural events in the city, such as the Three Kings Parade of Barcelona, the MAC Festival Mercè Arts de Carrer, of which she was also the creator, the Santa Eulalia Festival, the Festival Llum BCN and the Festival Mon Llibre, the celebration of the children's literature day.

Throughout her career she has participated with her company in many choreographic projects, including her participation as choreographer in the film "Tic-Tac" by Rosa Vergés, and as artistic director of the Centenary of FC Barcelona and several ceremonies of the Special Olympic Games, among others.

Currently, as an external advisor to the Barcelona City Council, she continues to be the artistic director of the Barcelona Three Kings Parade, the MAC Mercè Arts de Carrer Festival, the Mon Llibre Festival, as well as continuing with the artistic direction of the Roseland company.

This year she received the Ramblista de Honor 2021 award, a prize given by the Friends of La Rambla Association, created to distinguish people, entities, institutions or companies that have contributed through their activity and efforts to improve, disseminate or promote the prestige of Barcelona.
